The American Boiler and Foundry Company

July 9, 2014

This old coal-fired boiler was in the basement of an old farmhouse.  The house dates back to around 1920 so that’s my best guess as far as a production date goes.  This unit is no longer in use (upgraded to a high efficiency boiler) however it remains in place.  I’m sure this is due to the weight of the unit.

I have a smaller version of this Manuf. boiler that is also close to 100 yrs old. It stands about 21/2 feet and is 18-20 inches around and I would love to find approx. value.

    Steven,

It seems to me that most of the value would come from selling off individual pieces of the unit. I’ve seen the doors on these types of units sell on Etsy for around $50 a piece. Beyond that, scrapping the unit is probably where the rest of the potential value lies. I’m sure the farmhouse I was at would give the thing away if someone had a good way to get it out.

My only other thought is that if the piece is in good enough condition that a museum somewhere might be interested in it. Hard to say for sure.

    Thanks for the comment.
